Congratulations to our Mid-Cape and Islands Program for receiving a special award from the Rotary Club of Hyannis! Wednesday evening we received the “Service Above Self Award”, for being an “integral part of the Meals on Wheels program for the past 10 years…In addition to their regular delivery route, they provide assistance two days a week with a separate team to combine efforts in support of not only the Meals on Wheels program, but also the Senior Dining program. And amazingly, in spite of this year’s harsh winter, Habilitation Assistance Corporation teams endured the snow days to help keep our seniors well cared for with nutritious meals and cheerful smiles. Habilitation Assistance Corporation has demonstrated time after time a genuine commitment to the Meals on Wheels program. A special thank you goes out to each one of the exceptional, caring drivers: Bob, Kelly, Merle, Steve and Ron.”

Congratulations to all the Habilitation Assistance Corporation Access Center sites, who have achieved a 3-Year CARF Accreditation in Community Integration once again! Our recent survey showed NO RECOMMENDATIONS to improve our services for compliance with CARF’s strict standards! This means that our day habilitation programs are in full compliance with EVERY STANDARD that CARF puts forth!
This achievement is found in only 3 PERCENT of the surveys that CARF provides! We are grateful to our staff and members for their relentless efforts to be sure Habilitation Assistance provides the best possible services! We could not do such a great job without staff diligence and integrity as well as our member and other stakeholder feedback for improvement!

On March 9, 10 and 11, 2015, Habilitation Assistance Corporation hosted two surveyors from CARF International. Their visit was part of an accreditation survey, which reviews our agency for conformance to more than 1,000 quality of service standards.
Founded in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, CARF International is an independent, nonprofit accreditor of health and human services in Employment and Community Services.
The CARF International group of companies currently accredits more than 50,000 programs and services at 23,000 locations. More than 8 million persons of all ages are served annually by 6,800 CARF-accredited service providers.
CARF accreditation extends to countries in North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa.
Quality standards form the cornerstone of CARF accreditation. Conformance to quality standards is a way to identify areas for improvement and growth and help the service provider focus on improved service outcomes, satisfaction of the persons served, and quality service delivery. Each standard sets a guideline for the subject addressed.
Habilitation Assistance Corporation staff and members met with the two surveyors on Wednesday for an Exit Summary Conference, where the surveyors described their findings from their visit. We were so happy to find that there were no recommendations for improvements in their findings!
We look forward to receiving our official accreditation report and will share details here soon! Congratulations to all our wonderful staff for their ongoing efforts to provide the best services possible!
A survey team from CARF International* will be visiting on March 9, 2015 through March 11, 2015
We invited the surveyors to evaluate how well we meet international standards for quality. The survey will tell us what we are doing well and ways we might improve. As a result of this survey, we may earn or continue accreditation.
As part of the survey, the surveyors will interview people who receive services, their families, our staff, and others. Some questions the survey team members might ask people are:
- Do we provide a clean and safe setting?
- Do you receive the services you need and want?
- Are you treated with respect?
- Do you take part in planning your services?
- Are you told what you need to know about your services?
- Are your questions answered in a way you understand?
- Do you know where to go with questions or concerns?
If you would like to talk with one of the survey team members or want to learn more about CARF International, please let one of our staff members know. You may also contact CARF International directly.
